How to block applications on android 2.3?

Hello,
I have a HTC wildfire s and was wondering how to block certain apps from running? android 2.3

What apps exactly are we talking about? If you mean the background processes on task killers, leave them be and remove the task killer.
 
Unless you are rooted you cannot block apps. If you root you can use Titanium backup to Freeze apps.
 
Thanks for the sugestion, I am probably not going to root it as it is brand new.
Also chanchan05 I was talking about games and other apps.
 
If you are going to block them from running, then you just better uninstall them since apparently you won't be using them. What apps are these anyway? What specific apps are these? Some apps actually SHOULD be left alone to run in the background, like the calendar app, phone app, organizer apps, etc.

I think the first sentence can be interpreted as dangerous advice. How many threads have there been because someone deleted something important and broke other functionality?

Don't delete ANYTHING which wasn't installed through the Market. Y'all didn't hear me.

If you're rooted you can freeze them with Titanium Backup which will allow you to put them back if you find you broke something unintentionally.

The OP isn't rooted. It sounds to me like he/she is referring to the bloatware or other apps that comes preinstalled on most phones. Since the OP isn't rooted they will not be able to delete system apps that would render the phone useless.
 
The OP isnt rooted, so I dont see anything wrong with it. Which is why I also asked for what specific apps these were.
