Help How to block neighbors network extender?

troyinne

One of my neighbors has a network extender that my phone will periodically connect to when trying to place a call. However, if I go out of range of that extender, I drop the call.

How do I make my phone never connect to this network extender? I don't know which neighbor it is....

you can't. it's sort of the reverse of wifi -- it's open by default. if they don't want it open, they have to create a whitelist to specify what phones they want to be able to connect.

they have a range up to 5000 sqft, if I remember right. start knocking on doors, or print flyers and put them on windshields.

I am guessing you are on VZW correct?

If so, you can contact VZW and specifically their femtocell department. ask them that you are having issues with a neighbor who is using a network extender/femtocell. They should be able to locate this based on your zip.

I have a sprint femtocell and I know sprint can lower the coverage on it and can also blacklist your number so it does not auto connect.

how long has this been going on? did you just get the phone? how do you know your neighbor is using a femtocell? did he/she tell you? If you know your neighbor, just ask them to blacklist your number.

If none of the above helps, you will have to make sure NOT to initiate a call on the femtocell when you leave that area. this also happens on Sprints femtocell also.

This does not sound like a phone issue.
