Help How to block texts from marketers?

I am brand new to "smart phones." Is there some way to block unwanted text messages from telemarketers on the LG Motion? They show received from four digit numbers instead of full telephone numbers.

Since I just got my phone less than a week ago, I do not even know how any of these people got my phone number in the first place.

They may be trying to text the previous owner of the phone number. Metro has this service for blocking texts and numbers.

Just wanted to mention that MetroPCS now offers the blocking of phone numbers and texts for FREE. Saw it on the phone this morning. Just in time. Wonder if they read my post yesterday?

See the link in elhamda's helpful reply to my query. I did not have to do anything to get it. I just found it on my phone applications the day after elhamda told me about it. Apparently, it used to cost $1 per month, but now it is free. Makes sense that something like this should be free. It is called Metro Block-It.

Check your applications to find it. If you cannot find it amongst your apps, call MetroPCS at (I think) 611.
