How to boot Honor 5c in fastboot mode

Hi Everyone

I have a Honor 5c which failed during a genuine update, and when I run update in erecover it fails. I'm trying to use Hisuite using fastboot mode but i cannot for the life of me get the phone to boot into fastboot mode.

I have tried googling how to do this but all methods fail. either boots into erecovery or just emui with options to factory reset, reboot, or wipe cache.

anyone any idea how to boot into fastboot mode

I have tried:

volume down + power key - no fastboot
volume down + power key + connecting to usb - no fast boot
volume down + connecting usb - no fast boot
volume up + connecting usb - no fast boot

for adb to work I have to have developer options and USB debugging enabled on phone. I don't have these enabled and the phone doesn't boot up to change in settings

well that is a problem then.

are you pressing the right combos? are you holding down the buttons long enough?

Looking online it says to:

power off phone
press volume down + power button

I have done this for different time scales and none go into fastboot mode. Just return back into EMUI asking to reboot device, wipe data/ factory reset, Wipe cache

so what is exactly going on? what's up with your phone? it does not boot up? is a factory reset out of the question?
