Help How to bypass activation?

Does anyone know how to use the Xperia Play without activation? I got a new phone and would like to use it as a media player like a ipod Touch. I've done it with my Droid Incredible but tried the HTC method and it doesn't work.

Just press the back button it should bypass and put it in airplane mode to stop the activation from popping up
