How to change the language?

Hi, hopefully someone familiar with Android can help me out. My mother called and said her phone "is now all Chinese or Japanese letters", and she doesn't know how to change the language back. The phone is a "ZTE Android 4" she says. I am far from her and am not familiar with Android at all. Could someone help me change the language without being able to read the screen?

This are the steps: Go to settings>Language and input>Language>Select language.
Now you're good to go
