How to check battery wear

Hi I work as a It supporter and the users often complain, over battery life of their phones. So I would like to have some way to check how much of original capacity that is left on the battery, to chek if they need a new battery

I found a really good program for IOS called icopybot http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm which has, as one of its utilities, a battery info page with detailed information, like this

example from a iphone 5
Battery
CycleCount : 267
DesignCapacity 1430 mAh
FullChargeCapacity : 617 mAh
....................
..........

So I can see that the battery only has 43% original capacity left and need to be changed.

I would like to have something similar for android, as most of the company phones are android.
Is there anybody that know of such a program, that would be fantastic.

that would be great info to have. but I think the first step is to have a smart battery in the device.
one that can monitor the condition of the battery.

this might be one of the big benefits of having a NON-removable battery.

battery replacements for most androids are very inexpensive.

in my mind batteries are physical items.. and should NOT be repairable via software.

but your post got me thinking.. so I did a quick search.. and found this app:
Battery Life Repair

I am hesitant ..but it had a lot of great reviews.. so why not try.

NOTE: it does require you download a 2nd "free" app/game as well.
and push for a 5 star rating (not required)

I have a NOTE 8.. used. got it last week.
the battery only last about 2 hrs watching Netflix on Wifi. so it is NOT an up to PAR.

open the app.. started the test. the battery was at around 70%.
the test took about 4 mins. During the test and I watched it go down to 25%!!!!!!!!!!!
it found 12 issues (low parts; not bad).
that took about 2 mins...during the fix, battery dropped to 20%.

so.. it said my battery is now fixed.
I am currently charging the Note 8 battery.. and see how it really performs.

so... if it DOES work... how can a software fix battery performance??
NOT talking about optimizing the OS or memory.. to use sip the battery better.
but fixing issues with the physical battery??????

are we looking at snake oil BS???

I smell snake oil...and possible malware in that required 2nd "free" app/game. Software cannot restore a worn battery. Run - don't walk, run - away from friggin' Battery Life Repair.

my note8 died faster than normal.. on the first full charge after. I think about 1 hour of on screen use.

I let it fully discharge.. and will fully charge and see.

Fully discharging a battery became obsolete after the end of the Ni-Cd era (Nickel Cadmium batteries were notorious for a 'memory' effect if not allowed to fully discharge before being charged)

You can actually harm a Lithium Ion battery (which all modern devices, including Android Smartphones, have) by letting it fully discharge. The only time you should ever allow a Li-Ion pack to discharge to 0% is when the phone has a battery calibration failure (when the charge goes from, say, 50% to dead instead of waiting until it's at 1%).

If rooted, there's sometimes an option in the recovery to recalibrate the battery meter properly and not risk damaging your Li-Ions by letting them discharge to 0%

yeah.. I know about the harm of letting it discharge to 0%.

but this NOTE8 has issues.
from research it turns out .. that there is a bug with the battery calibration or monitoring chip.
over time.. it start to regulate the battery incorrectly.. stating incorrect limits. shutting off the tablet way before it is needed.. and stopping charging before it is really full.
this kills the tablets useful on screen time between charges.

I was hoping to reset this battery monitor chip.
but there was ONLY 1 way to really do it. which was fully proven in XDA.
thread.
I had to open the back .. and unplug the battery.
let the system reset. (leave it that way for 1.5 hrs)
the replug battery and close it up.

now.. it when from about 1.5 hrs on-screen time.. to 8 hrs!!!!!!
