How to completely back up the Admire ?

AppleUser

Got a copy of Data Pilot, upgraded to the latest version, and found out that the Admire is "not supported".

Then tried an app on my Mac called "Phone Copy" with no success.

Why isn't there an app which on a Mac or PC will back up the entire phone ? How do you members back up your phone ? Which parts can be backed up to an SD card ?

If your phone is rooted you can download Titanium Backup from the play store. It backs up system data and user apps to your SD card.

Phone is not rooted. Been afraid to do that. Can't explain why. These phones are now down to $80. Perhaps I should get a spare to try it.

Are rooted phones faster ?

Oh, also found that the phone is slower, especially loading contacts, if there's no SD card in it. Without the card, it gave me a low memory warning and ?My Metro was an insane 190 MB. Don't know where to find that memory usage again now that the SD card is in place.

Root it, it performs so much faster. First root the install cwm recovery. Flash a new rom, partition your sd card. You'll find that your phone will work alot better. Check out the all things root forum. Its not rocket science just read up on anything before doing, read it 3 or 4 times and ask questions the admire community will help you.

Personally, I wouldn't get another phone if I couldn't root it.
It can be used to clear a lot of space. (get rid of apps such as myextras, metro 411)
And customization.

Titanium is the only backup app I can think off.

But yeah its all up to you. Check out the All Things Root sticky.

Dont buy a second phone, if you mess up your current phone (very unlikely to happen if your trying to root it) take it to a central metro pcs store and they will ship a new one in 3-5 business days. Youll only need to pay 10.60$ for it. As for making a complete back up of the phone, this is refered to as a nandroid. You can make a nandroid for your phone by installing clockworkmod which i dont recommend if you lack the experience. To root you phone, search samsung admire one click root and it should take you to the thread on this forum which takes you through the steps. Very simple. Ive done it 4 times In under 3 minutes each.

I rather pay someone else to do it. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Will MetroPCS activate a rooted phone ?

Im sure having a rooted phone would give you no complications in getting the phone activated as there is no obvious way to notice that the phone is rooted. Also, metro customer service is really bad. Just in case though, i recommend having it activated before having someone root it.
