Help How to connect Tab 3 10.1 to Windows XP? Kies 3 can't connect

While I can connect my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 to my Mac, efforts on my Windows XP have failed after many tries. I've tried Kies and Kies 3, but it does not recognize the device. Tried bluetooth without success (though I can use Smart Camera software and send photos wirelessly to my XP computer). Installed Samsings New PC Studio, but it won't recognize the tablet either. Windows recognizes the device as a camera (GT-P5210).

Running Android 4.2.2. Jellybean and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Windows XP Professional, Version 2002) on a Lenovo laptop.

The tablet tells me that my Windows XP system lacks software to recognize the Android. Says I need security pack 3, Windows Media Player 10 (I have 9 installed), or Android software for Mac. I'm in a Shanghai company where I'm at the mercy of our IT department for the basic system software (though it is legit, authentic software, just old). Any hope for connecting Samsung's tablet?

I tried to install Windows Media Player 10, but after downloading and running the file from microsoft.com, got an error message saying that "This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows."

It shouldn't be this hard. Does it really need Media Player 10 to connect and simply transfer files via USB?

Update: While I could not install Windows Media 10, I was able to install Windows Media 11. But I have the same behavior. While the table tells me it is connected as a media device, the XP machine only sees that a camera is connected. No file transfer seems possible. Opening the camera in Explorer just shows an image with a computer icon connected to a camera icon, but nothing happens, nothing can be done.

This is the section for the galaxy note 10.1. Try posting in the tab 3 10.1 section.
