How to disable Blinkfeed completely?

Is there a way to completely disable HTC Blinkfeed so that it does not use CPU/Battery power? I removed HTC Blinkfeed from my screen. But it seems that it still runs in the background and consumes CPU/Battery power.

I think you'll find that's also the name of the launcher, so it will appear in the list even if the Blinkfeed page is off.

If you delete Blinkfeed Sense will not properly work and your phone will become non-responsive.
