How to Disable Update Notifications for Specific Apps?

Thre are certain apps that I do not wish to update ever...cough NASCAR.....Blockbuster....

Its bad enough that I cannot remove these from my phone and it just pisses me off each time I see an update notification for this unwanted crap. The ability to discontinue notifications for these specific applications would be welcome.

Is this possible and if so, how?

first question is, are you rooted? there are apps for a rooted phone, ie. Titanium Back up, that will allow you to "freeze" unwanted apps.... freezing is as close to deleting as you can get... they are still physically there but will not run... not sure if there is an app out there yet that will allow you to do such a thing with out being rooted... i'd suggest searching apps for "freeze"... JM2C...

I've thought about this too. The reader 'pulse' has two notifications, and the settings only let you disable one of them. I don't really want any notifications for that app, but would like to still use it when I want to (so freezing it is kinda pointless)...

Some apps have options, but some don't. Perhaps there is an app that controls the apps that can create notifications..?

you mean update notifications right? not the actual notifications for specific apps. just when it says 'updates available' and takes you to market to update apps you never use?

No, I DO mean I'd like to be able to ignore update notifications for specific apps. I do not want to see a pop up or even see in the update list when the NASCAR app has an update.

Yes, thats what i meant/thought.... and i know there is an option to ignore on appbrain but not on market... as far as i know anyway

Want to be able to do this too...amazon mp3, etc - don't care and don't want it, don't use it, wish I could remove it. bloatware.

The only option I see in the Market is
"Notifications
Notify me about updates to apps or games that I downloaded"

This doesn't resolve this issue. Does anyone know of a way to do such without being rooted?

Maybe we can start a petition to Motorola asking for these capabilities?

depends on what notifications you mean. what are they?
