Help how to disable whatsapp notification in Samsung Galaxy Note

I was wondering whether there's a way to disable whatsapp notifications or at least hide the sender and message from view in the status bar. I've already unticked all the boxes in the notification settings in whatsapp, but my phone will still have the notification icon and when opening the notification bar, people can still see the sender and message.

Is there a way to disable this? Or any other app/launcher that would help solve my problems?

If you have unchecked everything in the settings and it's still showing try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If it still remains I'd contact the developer to bring the issue to their attention.
