How to download without SD card?

I have a (friend's) Droid 2 (R2D2) with no internal SD card (and no immediate plans of getting one). I can download apps from Play store with it, but my 360 Launcher requires SD card to download wallpaper and themes.

The phone is not rooted. Is it possible in this case to use adb or perhaps some other means to fix this problem?

You can use adb to change the default install location for apps, but I can't see why that would change an application's preferred download directory. If there's no option to set it in the app then I fear it may be hard-coded to use the SD card, in which case the only options I can think of are hack the app, hack the phone or buy a cheap SD card. If you don't plan on rooting then the last option is certainly the simplest.
