how to edit in android framework and test

I want to edit in android framework and test the android OS after editing.

for example: I want to edit in java code then convert these java files to format suitable to install it on Virtual machine VM.

or I want to access as root user on Linux then do i can edit in framework after that or not

and If I can edit. which commands to edit in the framework

That's a pretty complicated set of questions for this section. I will say this. Your phone will need to be rooted before you can pull/push system files to/from it. Also, I would NOT test a modified framework file on an Android phone that you cannot install a custom recovery on (bootloader unlocked) so that a nandroid backup can be made prior to testing.
