Root How to edit mms.apk background

I'm just wondering what file or files i would need to edit in mms.apk to invert the background color and make the text white so I can put it in my rom. I tried looking it up, but google's not helping lol

I think it'd be cool if we could add a custom wallpaper to the background of the Messaging app.
