Help How to empty Recycle Bin using ES File Explorer

This is related to the app ES File Explorer on my Nexus 7 tablet. When I delete a file in ES File Explorer (select it, drag it to lower Rt corner of screen) I am assuming no memory space is released as the Memory Used scale with ES File Explorer doesn't change. Is there a way to empty the Recycle Bin? I can find the Recycle Bin in the Settings of the explorer but when selected it allows the Recycle Bin Function to be enabled or not. I would think after disabling the Recycle Bin Function performing a file Delete would allow memory space to be released and that would show up on the Memory Used scale. But that is not the case. So I have a full SD card and don't know how to delete (really delete) a file. The Memory Used scale appears accurate because trying to download a file from my PC that is bigger that what's available per the scale won't work.
So how do I delete files?

Welcome to Android Forums.

Perhaps the problem is when the calculation is being made for the space being used. Did you reload ES Explorer after you closed the recycle bin? Did you try rebooting your device after that?

The Memory Used scale was reduced from 26GB to 1.7GB after reboot. I have to download a file and see if deletion shows as new memory space.

Reboot did clear (almost) the SD card. Then I updated the OS to 6.0.1. Now there is an option to empty the Recycle Bin. And that does show up on the SD Memory Usuage scale. Thank you.

Good.

FWIW ... a lot of scanning and summarizing of conditions done by an app are done only once. Some do it when the app is loaded. Some do it when the system is loaded. Good steps in problem resolution is to first try reloading the app and if that doesn't help try rebooting the system.
