How to erase info from broken Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch

I've got a Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch that our dog decided looked like a treat. He started to chew the lower left corner until the screen broke. Unit will power on but all we get are some blue lines across the screen that will change when we tap the screen but still can't make anything out. I want to sell this thing to anyone who knows how to change the screen out and may then want to sell for a profit. I'm not capable of doing this myself and screen replacement is cost prohibitive for me to pay someone to do it (already bought another anyway). My question is: Can I erase any information of a personal nature that may be on this tablet? If so , how do I go about it? Thanks in advance.

i Have googled master reset on galaxy tab and come up with this answer

A hard reset will reset the Samsung Galaxy Tab back to factory default settings. You would perform these steps if you want the device prepared to sell or return to the store, but you may also want to perform a hard reset if there are problems with the device that you can

Thank you for the help but unfortunately all I can see on the screen are a few blue black and white lines. No logo no settings, nothing distinguishable.
