How to get Pikachu as starter Pokemon

I read this online and tried it, cool. At the beginning when they tell you to pick your starter Pokemon on the map.. walk away. They will reappear. Do it a few times and eventually Pikachu will appear with them.

Anyway to start off with Eevee?

I've been playing since Saturday, but just came across a random Pikachu while driving back from grabbing a quick lunch. As for starting off with an Eevee, I don't think there's a way to do that.

I chose charmander, but he was really low level. I suspect you'll quickly end up replacing whatever your starter was with wild ones you find that are much higher level.

Either that or I got the short end of the stick haha
