How to go back to Messages when in phone call

When in a call or app I often need to go back to messages to find info or a code ,how do I do it without losing call please

You should be able to swipe up from the bottom to show recent opened apps without losing your phone call.

Tap Home button, then open the Messages app.

i always put the phone into speaker mode so that i can talk while accessing the screen. and you can do any one of the suggestions from above.
