How to hard reset?

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Wonder (i8150).

Is factory reset in settings only a 'soft' reset? I've read a little and there are different ways like holding the volume, home and power buttons to reset and *2767*3855# as well. Which ones is a 'hard' reset in that it completely leaves the phone completely new and clear all errors? Thanks. :)

I don't know the handset, but a factory reset should wipe all user apps, data and settings and return the phone to its original state. That should do for most purposes.

Today my phone's volume was virtually non-existant. Things like music, clock alarm, calendar alarms, incoming sms had so low a volume that i couldn't hear anything despite the phone volume turned all e way up. I didn't even notice an alarm and sms went by until i saw the notifications. Weirdly enough, incoming calls ringtones were ok. so it should be a software problem? After a restart e volume went back to normal. Im considering a reset but dont know which would solve this error. Im worried i wld miss alerts i cldnt afford to miss. any advice?
