Android Question

Guest
Hi!

I am a new user to smartphones and know very little about how to use them.

So I want to apologize from the start, if the question is too ridiculous.

I have a BQ aquaris 4.5, with android 4.4.2, I'm in Portugal, and the android is in portuguese, but go ahead and explain it to me in english, it usually works for me.

What I want is to set up a ring tone, for incoming calls, another for the notifications from the message app, but for all other apps, I want no ring tone just vibrate. Is this possible?

Thanks a lot!

It should be possible, though you may need to install a different message app from the one which came with your phone originally (which isn't a problem - there are lots of them in the Play Store).

So, ring tone for calls is easy, as that is a different setting for notifications anyway. Go to Settings > Sound > Ringtone and select the sound you want.

Then go to Settings > Sound and set the Notification Sound to silent. Turn vibrate on for notifications. You've now got all other apps the way you want (vibrate only), but not the message app.

Then open the message app, go into its (rather than the system settings) settings, and set its notifications to be the way you want them, including setting whatever sound you want. If your built-in app doesn't let you do this (only uses system notification settings) every other message app you can download and install does, so just install another one (Chomp, Textra, Handcent, Evolve SMS, Easy SMS, etc - they can all do this). Make that your default message app and you are done. In fact most of these other apps will let you set a different sound per contact if you want to do that.
