How To: ICS Stock Upgrade Without OTA or Root

I used this method to get to ics from rooted gingerbread. Worked flawlessly. It may seem like a lot of steps but really it is just really good instructions.

Whole process took about 15-20 mins

Worked great for me. Any idea what will happen when verizon sends out the update? Will it just say we are up to date or will it try to install again?

Worked great! I did a full data wipe/factory reset and not just cache wipe but other than that, followed the instructions and it went very smoothly.

A quick response would be great guys (if any at all) when do I do the factory reset to ensure a clean install.

I did mine right before doing the recovery boot, to change to AP fast boot. I wiped it, let it boot up. Powered it off, and then followed the steps to boot up in AP fast boot or whatever it's called.

Complete NOOB question. If i go this route, will i have to REDOWNLOAD all my apps?

Yes. When you do the option 1 thing it wipes your data anyway. So a factory reset isn't even necessary. You still have to wipe cache twice after you go back in and set up an account though

I must be a complete idiot because I cant even get passed the "fast boot" step. The first time it said that "path cannot be found". The second time, it wouldn't allow me to scroll down with the volume down key. I think it's a sign that I should wait

A few questions.
1. Will this wipe my SD card?
2. Will I have to reactivate my phone?
3. Will I have to download ALL my apps, including the ones that come preloaded?
4. Will this break my ability to OTA in the future?

I looked at the video of this procedure on the link in the original post.

Everytime the guy restarted his phone, a green hand displaying the middle finger was displayed. Will this graphic also display on my phone if I manually upgrade to ICS as he described?

1) No
2) It will do a quick activation, but not the full Verizon activation that downloads the info onto your phone
3) Only the apps that you added to your phone, if you are already rooted before using this, you can back up with Titanium, run the utility and install ICS, then you can root again afterwards and reinstall Titanium and reinstall your apps (worked flawlessly for me)
4) No, it should not

Hope this helps. Been running this for 2 days now and this phone is so much smoother than it was before. Glad we waited to get all the bugs worked out.

Make sure you download the drivers in the utility pack before starting. The 2nd issue you had was because you didn't hold all three buttons long enough. It took me a few tries to figure that one out.

No, he says in the video that he added that delicate flower himself. You will still have the android.
