How to identify a widget?

Let's say you have a widget on your homescreen. Is there a way to determine the name of that widget (or its associated app)?

I'm guessing not, given the number of people posting screenshots and asking, "can someone identify this widget," but I thought someone might know some trick. I wish you could just long-press a widget and get a "properties" pop-up or something.

If the widget opens an app when you tap it it's easy. But I think most of those "what widget is this" posts are asking about pictures of someone else's screen - you generally know what your own widgets are.

Sorry, I never saw your reply, for some reason.

Yeah, you'd think someone would know what their own widgets are. :) But every now and then I'll look at a widget that I added, like, eight months ago and I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called. Or something'll get screwed up and I'll get the "cannot load this widget" icon, which can usually be solved by deleting & re-adding it, if I could only remember what it was.

As far as I can tell, that's just the way it is and there's not much to be done about it. I guess I could take a screenshot and then annotate the .jpg or something for future reference. :)

Well if you are using a different launcher other than stock one. you can tell.

For example i have "Holo Launcher" so when tap and hold the widget i get a popup with the option to remove, resize, or app info. Then it takes me to the app info page. I dont think this works when a widget cant be loaded. Also, Im not sure if other launchers do the same.

Launcher Pro just gives you the option to drag it in the trash. I'll take a look at Holo Launcher, though.
