how to increase notification volume

I am new to all this, but I have a neat notification sound but it is very soft, is there a simple way of increasing the volume, my ringtone volume is sound.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums chichi378!

I'm assuming that you have already tried adjusting your notification tone volume in Settings, (you don't say which firmware you are on, ICS or Gingerbread).

Failing that, you could extract your notification tone, via USB or Wi-Fi, to your PC and download, free, Format Factory, and run it through that with a volume increase and then load it back on your phone.
