Help how to install android ice cream sandwich directly from the google servers

EnIXmA

Newbie
My Gnex does not update over the air or through the update option in the phone. I am running on 4.0.02 on the bell network. I would like to receive updates directly from the google server rather than wait for my carrier to get it. So is there a way i can install the ice cream sandwich manually from the google servers?
Can some one please give me step by step instructions.
thnx

I would say try a custom ROM. most of them are based off of AOSP. check out the All Things Root stickys, lots of good info in there.

Actually you are on 4.0.1 and the build you have is called yakjuux. In order to get fast updates from Google you will need to get the yakju build. 4.0.2 is not available for yakjuux builds yet. Google changing from yakjuux to yakju or search it up on xda forums. There are plenty of step by step guides. One thing they don't mention is that one you flash to yakju, you will probably get the yakju version of the radio (baseband). For some people in Canada this radio has been problematic. You can always flash back to the UGKL1 radio or just do the whole process manually (like me) and keep the radio that came with the phone.
