Root how to install gapps?

Im currently running cm7 with the most recent recovery image but I can't figure out how to install the market and other Google apps.I have the zip file but I don't know what to do with it.I have tried manually downloading the market but when I launch it a screen asks me to sign in to continue if I press yes or no it closes with out any notice.

It needs to be flashed in recovery.

Typically you flash the ROM, then flash gapps.

Maybe this will help:

IFirst backup your apps with TitaniumBackup or MyBackup, then:

1- Boot into recovery
2- Wipe cache
3- Under advanced wipe dalvik cache
4- Under mounts, format boot, system, data, and cache
5- Flash the ROM's zip file
6- Flash the gapps zip file
7- Reboot
8- Skip singing into your Google account till you enable wifi (so much faster)
9- Enable wifi
10- Under Settings>>Accounts sign into your Google account and sync.
11- Download TitaniumBackup and use it to restore your apps, but do not restore system apps or data!

Be sure to check the md5sum of the ROM's zip file before flashing it. If you still get stuck at the bootanimation, then something is most likely wrong with your sdcard.
