I have a Samsung Galaxy sIII mini and would like to install whatsup (like I had in my old blackberry) but been a young 77 years old found difficulty in doing so

Hi and welcome
Hopefully these steps will help:
Set up a google account on your phone if you have not already done so. Normally you are invited to when you first turn it on.
Connect your phone to wifi (or 3G/4G if no wifi)
Open the app drawer by pressing the square of dots at bootom right of the screen
Find the app called Playstore (shopping bag icon with coloured arrow) Press it
Press the magnifying glass search icon at top right
type "whatsapp" into the entry box at the top - select Whatsapp Messenger that should appear in the list below
Press the install button
Press the accept button to allow the app have permission to read your phone data etc
Press the back button several times to exit Playstore
A whatsapp icon should have appeared on your hopepage
Hope this helps
NB There is BBM available for android - search for BBM and install as above. You would be able to use your existing ID and everything should sync automatically - might be better?

Do you mean "Whatsapp", the socialising app?? If so, log onto this page using your phone browser and click on this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp
OR.... you could click on the attached link, log into the Google Play site using the credentials you use with your phone, and it should automatically be downloaded to your phone (depeinging if you have network/wifi coverage.
