Help How to keep an app running in the background

So I'm playing this game called civcrafter and resources go up over time. But you have to have the app open for the resources to go up. You can't be on the home screen or any other app, otherwise resources won't go up even though it says it's running in the app manager.

Is there a way to make the app think it's open?

If the game isn't coded to continue running in the background then I don't think there's any way of forcing it to. Your best bet is to contact the game devs and request that they update the Android version.
