Root How to make a custom rom

Are their any tutorials out there for making a custom rom....I want to try my hand at it. I'd like to make one for my phone and then my two Chinese tablets coming in. Is making a custom rom device specific or what. Can someone point me in the right

I asked a similar question here, and mavrikmeerkat gave some veryy helpful pointers. As for your second question, each device is different, and requires its own unique rom.

Thank you! I read a little and Im sad that C++ won't help me since that is the programming language I am learning, but im down for dual learning linux. Think it would help to have my laptop dual booted
