Help How to manually update to Android 5.1.1?

I read the news about LG's OTA updates to Lollipop 5.1.1. I just bought the Leon a couple days ago via Metropcs and need to either force an update or download and install it myself. I currently have 5.0.2 MS34510b. Hopefully I don't have to root the device in order to accomplish this? The system update is current. The only update I haven't allowed is the LG software update.

You can use the method in this thread: http://androidforums.com/threads/unbrick-guide-lg-leon-lte-metropcs-lgms345-kdz-firmware.923914/ . You don't need a rooted device to do it.

i did a factory restore 2x and updated everything on google playstore and in 2 days of purchasing this device i had gotten the update, and no im NOT ROOTED, and 2 days before you purchased your device i had bought mine.

maybe root blocks updates, who knows
Root dose not block OTA updates from metroPCS.
My Leon is rooted with TWRP installed and my phone auto-downloads the 5.1 update when on WiFi.

Thing is, I wish this didn't happen because it is not possible to install OTA updates with a custom bootloader (TWRP). So, I have a 300+ MB file chillin in my phones cache file and will be until a custom ROM is released

Don't think I'll even bother with installing stock boot just to update.
Why? I'll loose root privileges and may not be able to get them back (although most likely could) - and - I hope a CM 12 build is released soon and need root / TWRP in order to install custom ROMs
