How to open local html files in Chrome?

Hi

I am an android newbie. I bought Nexus 7 (2012) recently.

I have some html files stored in my Downloads folder. I am using File Manager to access it.

When I try to open the html file, I get several options with which it can be opened. But Chrome doesn't show up in that list.

How to make my local html files open in Chrome? I don't mind if it doesn't open directly in Chrome. I want Chrome as one of the options there.

Currently I have to first open it in FireFox, and then copy and paste the path in Chrome, which is very painful.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure how you do it - I generally select the Android HTML viewer and always kind of assumed that was Chrome but I see now it's not - or at least, it's not the full version.

There are HTML viewers in the Play store. I haven't used any, but you might try some that have good ratings.

If you want to continue using a file manager to open html files, you'll have to change the default browser. It sounds like Firefox is default. There's a couple of ways to change it to Chrome. Install an app like Default App Manager and set the default browser there. Or you could delete the Defaults for Firefox and select Chrome next time Android asks which app to open for browsing. Settings / Application Manager / Downloaded (tab) / Firefox / Clear Defaults (button)

I went back to a Gingerbread device that doesn't have Chrome and it has an HTML Viewer presented as an option when opening an html file in a file browser..

On a Jelly Bean phone with Chrome there are two HTML Viewers presented.

My assumption is that the second one is being brought in with Chrome.

I can find no documentation on it.

I can find no way to directly select Chrome (as was the original question) when opening an html file in a file browser.
