How to pimp out the status bar?

Hi, I'm new here, and I'd like to know how to pimp out the status bar, if possible, without rooting. I use Open Home full. It there any way to customize it with with this app? Thanks!

i use Bar Control on stock N1. You can make shortcuts to lots of stuff in the notification bar, like links to the bluetooth control panel, battery use details, calendar, whatever...

Root basically means going against the phone manufacturer in other words it allows you to do a lot of things that the phone would normally stop you from doing. You can for sample get updates manually and use applications that can't be use without the phone been rooted.
