Apps How to push application?

I wrote an application that implements an Israeli card game.

When I uploaded it there was another version uploaded at the same time.

Since then mine has been downloaded just over 1,000 times whilst his has passed 10,000.
Could it be that he is advertising it somewhere that I don't know about?

I have it integrated into Scoreloop.

Any ideas?

1) Keep working on your app, make your users happy. They are you best marketing tools.

2) Join forums and participate don't spam.

3) Send demo versions to blogs

4) Look around on the web for seminars on marketing mobile apps, specifically Android. Motorola has done a few. Check out motodev.

other than that it's an age old question "how to stand out" and the reason there is such things as Marketing and PR industries.

basically dont underestimate how important marketing and PR are to success
