how to reduce gmail mail check frequency

The default Gmail app which comes pre-installed, i dont find any option to reduce its frequency of mail check. Its always in a "push email" mode. Since its consuming alot of power i was wondering if there is any way to fix this. for me a check in 1/2 hrs in enough :D

actualy you can change the freq' on the stock email app.

just to to the email app, when your messages come up click "menu" then "more" then "account settings" its the third one down

ive set mine to every hour

yeah Gmail app is one of the best mail app for me... instant push email is spendid. wierd i cannot change the frequency anymore on my LG Optimus Black, but it doesn't matter.

oooh ok yeah i dont use the gmail app it only shows me my mails from youtube anyway..i only use the e-mail app for my hotmail ...and i works great

actually i found a way for that

setting>>accounts and sync >> list of accounts added for background data sync and auto sync options

their in the gmail account you can disable sync for gmail, picasa calender etc...

but point is this will never check mail now, i'll have to manually open "Gmail" app and keep checking. or use another app for notifications. But yes this saves alot of battery :)
