Help How to remove multiple icons of same App?

I am a new Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 user: I installed an application then tried to move the apps startup icon to the home page. This was a success, but the startup icon pasted 4 times, so I have 4 startup icons for the same app on the home page......How do I remove 3 of these from the page, I can find nothing in the manual about this?

Tap and hold then drag extras to the trash

Uninstall the app(s) that has multiple icons, go to Settings ↪ Security ↪ Device Administrators ↪ untick "Android Device Manager" and then install the app(s) again.
