Hey Androiders,
Here's what SoD looks like for me:
- phone will hang, or shut it self off and then I can't wake it with the power button, the trackball nor the volume rocker
- pull the battery, put it back in, reboot one of three things happens:
1. hang on the 4 colour x
2. hang on Cyanogen Mod loader screen
3. boot fine, but won't let me unlock the phone (gesture unlock before you input your secret pattern)
Here's what I've tried:
- as per lunatic59's suggestion in another thread I cleared the memory which made me think that I had fixed the issue until #3 happened again
- talked with a repair guy with a little hole in the wall shop here in Toronto who says it's a motherboard issue and he has to change it for CAD$150
- talked with HTC who said send it to us for diagnosis, we'll fix it and if it's the motherboard it'll cost US$197+shipping
What I still need:
Your opinion(s) as to what can I still do to fix the issue myself, or a recommendation which of the above solutions you'd go for. I'm kinda leery of the repair shop dude because he talks a mile a minute and I can't understand him which is making me think he knows his stuff.. but still.
Also, what replacement device would you recommend? I was warned off Samsungs because of the possibility that they will run into the same issue with the motherboard (fusing of pins due to extreme heat) in the future.
