How to retrieve backed up Colornotes?!

PLEASE help! The notes from my old phone are backed up on the SD card, (Unless an automatic backup on the new phone has overridden them... or does it save by date?).
I re-installed the app and I cannot find out how to get my backed up notes onto the new phone!!!! What is the point of backing it up on the SD if there are no import choices in settings?!

I have searched this forum and Google and everyone has this question but no one has provided an answer. The app. site says it backs it up and where they are stored, but no answer on HOW to import. The 2nd question is the mystery. HOW did they even get to the backed up data where it asked for a password?

Q : Where is backed up notes data at sdcard?
A : /data/colornote on sdcard

Q : I had to reinstall color notes notepad and there is an automatic backed up notes data that was stored but it requires a password and I hadn't set one up in the past. How do I retrieve that information?
A : Try default password '0000' (numbers)

I have the Thunderbolt, and can't even find a way to open the SD card from the phone other than for pics and vids.

Thank you!

I got a new phone (Moto Droid 3) yesterday and had the same issue. It wasn't hard to solve, though.

Like you, my old ColorNotes data was stored on my sdcard, under \data\colornote. Underneath that there's another folder backup. Mine had 22 backups of my notes, from different dates.

I used the "Files" app. This was new to me on my Droid 3 with Gingerbread; I'd had a Droid 1 using an earlier release of the OS, and it didn't have the "Files" app. If I couldn't use this app, I'd use Astro or some other file explorer.

I looked on the internal storage and found no backup folder. Tell the truth, I can't remember if there was \data\colornote, but I know there was no \data\colornote\backup. At whichever point it was missing, I simply copied the folder (not the files, but the folder) from the sdcard to the internal storage.

For example, if I only found \data on internal card, then I copied the colornote folder from the sdcard and pasted it into \data on the internal card. All the files came with it.

After that I opened ColorNotes (the app, not a folder), opened the menu, chose "Backup". From here it now showed me all my previous backups. I restored the most recent and had all my notes.

I'm not sure I explained this all that well. If you have troubles let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I have been using Colornote for over a year now and have successfully Transfered all of my backed up notes to three phones during that time. The password is for locked notes that are password protected Try and create a password and see if it will Allow you to restore the backed up notes.

But HOW did you get them transferred? Tomorrow I will try the Files app, but if you know of an easier way PLEAAAASE let me know! Thanks!

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? I have tried every suggestion under the sun and I still can't retrieve my notes.

The Help screen in ColorNotes may help you solve this.

It says the default password is '0000' (all number zeros).

Click the ColorNote (big icon) on the top left of the main screen.
There will be a selection to access the archive and you can restore notes from there.

I used wifi file transfer to transfer the *.dat and *.idx files to the folder data\colornote\backup (like boster told us).
Then with colornote I used the settings-backup-sd card backup and there the notes occur ordered by date. when selected you have the option to view them or restore them. Both will work.

I use app version 3.9.0 by the way.

Hope this helps you too.

Have the same problem. Very frustrated with ColorNote. For one, it is incredibly non-intuitive for the "Restore" to be under the "Backup" option (should be separate option).

For another, I cannot get it to work. I transferred the files to the backup folder, and they show up in ColorNote when I go to the Backup option. But, when it asks for the password, I cannot get anything to work. The master one does not work. My standard 4-digit password (what I would have used to set up a password) does not work.

I went into the new ColorNote on the new phone and set up a password there. Oddly, it let me, without requiring a previous password or the master password. That new password did not work either.

Perhaps the version of ColorNote I am restoring from (an older one) did not use a password????? I need these damn files. There should be some utility I could use to extract the info from these encoded files? Is there some way to contact ColorNote directly and get help?
