Root How to Root ICS 4.04 (Build # IMM26) on NS4G

Hi All, I need to flash CM9 but I am running running ICS 4.04 (Build #IMM26, Stock Kernel) on my Samsung Nexus S 4g (Sprint CDMA) . The bootloader is unlocked but I cannot find a method to root it. Please tell me or guide me to a proper thread/website/any that explains how do I root it? Any help much appreciated. Cheers and keep up the good work!

Just did this 5min ago and it worked just fine I'm also running stock IMM26

If the bootloader is unlocked you don't need root. All you need to do isto fastboot flash CWM and then boot to it and use the USB mounting to copy the CM9 zip over and install it. The nice thing about an unlocked bootloader is not having a need to root and install from inside the OS.

Just did what? I think you missed a link or something there you quoted the OP and said you did the same thing. But he is asking a question.

If you need help using fastboot to install the recovery head over here to read the post on my blog that has the download links and instructions.

did you lose your contacts when you went to IMM26?

I'm thinking of going to IMM26 from CM7, but don't know what apps can take contacts over (backup in CM7, then later open in ICS and restore).
If you have your contacts in Gmail account you will not loose them. But yes when you load the IMM26 it will wipe your device clean.
