I'm only covering if you have the Zv3 or ZV99 (TextNow) Lg Volt (Ls740). For times sake. I'm sorry in advance. Your warranty will be VOID if you root or do anything further. I'm not held responsible for any bricking of a device (Shouldn't happen if you follow instructions and don't install add-ons that you don't know if they work or not).
I do not take credit for the recovery or ROMs. You can thank @Bad_MOFO_33 for the updated recovery and the builds you decide to use (CandyRom, CM12.1, Blisspop at the time of this).

Section 1:Rooting
1. Download KingRoot from
http://www.kingroot.net

2. Click on file (Either from notifications or ES File Explorer)

3.Install it. A promt with pop-up asking you to allow Installation from unknown sources. Click "Allow".

4. Open KingRoot and click "Root" (After a couple minutes it will say "Rooted")

5. Reboot just in case.

You are now rooted and your warranty is now VOID.

Section 2: Installing Recovery

1. First, Download the TWRP Recovery.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347758728

2. Install a app from the Google Play Store called "Flashify".

3. Open Flashify when it is done downloading

4. Agree to the Prompts and allow root access.

5. Click "Recovery IMG"

6. Locate the TWRP recovery IMG you downloaded earlier and click on it.

7. Install the Recovery and agree to the pop-up. It will take about 2 minutes to install.

You now have a rooted LG Volt with TWRP Recovery.

8. (Optional Step) Download "Rashr" from the Google Play Store. It allows you to automatically reboot into Recovery so you don't have to do the button trick. Once downloaded. Agree to pop-ups and allow it to update and grant it root access.

Section 3: Installing the ROM you want.
BEWARE! When you flash a ROM, some things might not work but the ROMs will be updated and fix what is wrong. Be careful about the ROMs you flash. MAKE SURE BATTERY IS AT 75% OR GREATER.

1. Locate the ROM you want (I recommend @Bad_MOFO_33 builds, he has 3 out at the time of this and I recommended CandyRom)

2. After you locate the ROM you want. Download it.

3. Use "ES File Explorer" from the Google Play Store to move your ROM to your Micro SD Card.

4. Download appropriate GAPPs for your ROM. Move the GAPPs to your micro SD Card as well. ( Optional: Download APN fix if needed or available).

5. Open "Rashr" and click "Reboot to Recovery"

6. Make a backup of your stock firmware, just in case. Make a stock firmware to your "External_SD (Micro SD card). When you make the backup, unclick "data" because that will take up a lot more space on your SD card.

7. Click "Wipe". Then click " Advanced" click all the options BUT EXTERNAL_SD. do not click your external SD card or it will erase everything on it! After you click everything except External_SD. "Slide to wipe"

8. Click "Back" (bottom right corner).

9. Click "install". Install your ROM FIRST from your SD card THEN the GAPPs from your SD card. After you are done installing your ROM THEN GAPPs, click " Reboot System ".
Notice: it can take up to 10 minutes to boot, maybe even 15. Wait patiently.

After that your system should boot. Sign in normally. Credit of the ROMs go to the devolopers and credit of official and Unofficial builds go to them. Credit goes to Developers that extracted GAPPs you are using. I hope this helped.

True, but that is also where apps put data files, and probably KingRoot. Backup the stuff you want to keep and wipe internal memory to avoid conflicts or lingering remnants of KingRoot.

Your Welcome :) if you have any questions about the Textnow LG Volt, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Hi, hope you can help me. I have a TextNow Volt that I just rooted (100% thanks to your guide ChangeOfJinzo!). Can I just flash the zv5 stock rom now? I'm still on zv99. Is there anything else I need to do to prepare it?

Quick update for lurking newbies like myself: Flashed ZV6 Stock_Rooted_Updated (using twrp, per this guide) which also removed kingroot files and replaced them with su. No prep necessary and all is well. Peace. :specsdroid:
