How to root via Mac

Depends on the rooting method. If it requires any Windows software, then you'll need Windows, probably via Bootcamp rather than a VM. What phone is it and what's the procedure?

I rooted and changed the ROM on my Galaxy S with a Mac, but that didn't involve running any software on the computer. Basically just copying some files to the phone's SD-card.

I've had three Android phones, and all of them I've rooted from a Mac, but the rooting procedures have been different each time.

What phone do you have?

It's best to ask questions regarding rooting methods in the sub-section for your specific phone. You'll get better help there.

ok...so i followed the instructions, and it said everything was done....but i do not see SU on my skyrocket.

I don't have that phone, but you can open up the Linux-Mac.sh file with TextEdit and try running the relevant adb commands manually. See which ones error out.
