Root How to root WITHOUT SuperOneClick?

I need to know the procedure for rooting the Galaxy S 4G without using SuperOneClick. I tried several times and failed. All the guides I have found all say using SuperOneClick is the "easiest" way; so I know there has to be another way. But I can't find anywhere that has another way.

Disable AVG... until you are done or reboot by right clicking taskbar icon. it thinks Super One Click has a Trojan! Makes installing impossible. THIS IS NOT A VIRUS and worked beautifully on my t-mobile sgh-t959v Rooted so fast, yup with you guessed it... "one-click"
