Root How to root?

I need help with instruction on how to root my husbands ZTE Vital. I am an apple person my self and have done many jailbreaks, but I never have done any thing with androids. So can any one help?
 
I moved this to the All things root forum for your phone. In android rooting is a bit different phone by phone. The basic premise is getting the root binaries and SU installed into the protected area of the phone, either through exploits or other means. How that is accomplished varies so there isn't one single method.
