Help How to search in browser?

Might be a dumb question, but I can't figure out how to use a pull down search tab while on forum websites. Usually, a small popup type tab opens and you type in your search term for that form. Numerous forums use this, but I can't get it to work on my phone. When the keyboard opens, the search window closes.

Help a dummy?

Hopefully this helps.

And example:

When I click on the text box to type in a search word, the box closes.

See if you can type in your search, then hit the back button and see if the search box reappears and your search term is in it.

What happens if you tap in the box that you input text. Cause I don't see the cursor in the screen shot.

Can't get a cursor on the screen, it closes the box. If I tap on the text box, the keyboard pops up and the text box closes. Every website that uses this type of text box does this. I asked this on another forum, and a couple of people tried and had the same results.

I hate Tapatalk. Crummiest piece of software I have ever used.

In the screen shot above, the green dot at the bottom of the box, actually takes you to an advanced search window which will work. But it's annoying that no pull down text search box will work in the browser.

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that you cannot use the Android Forums Search box on an Android Phone? ;)

I'll get me coat. :vroam:

On a PC now, but on my phone, this website, even in the browser, is VERY different than the PC version. To search, it's a magnifying glass icon, and that takes you to a completely different page. But any forum that uses the drop down or popup text box, does not work with the browser. Browser I use is Chrome, by the way.

In the browser settings, try setting it to load the Desktop version of the site. I've found this sometimes clears up problems of this general nature.

Also, if it's a site that's important to you and Chrome isn't doing it for you, try Dolphin browser. I've migrated to using Dolphin more than Chrome due to better handling of several sites I use frequently on the phone.
