Help How to Search?

I can't figure how to search the entire phone like I used to with my iphone 4. What am I missing? Is this an Android or LG Thrill question?

Hit your search button on the bottom(magnifying glass). Next hit your menu button and choose what you want to be searchable(searchable items).

Thanks. I'm still not used to those buttons at the bottom of the Android screen. I keep looking for solutions in the software. Took me awhile to realize that you have to hold down on contacts to bring up various options.

It's a fun learning experience though.
