how to send apps to SD card!?

skizzy91

Lurker
In App Manager there is no option to send apps to SD card, only to internal memory or phone.

I installed some apps that should send other apps to SD card but they dont seem to be doing anything, the option to send apps to SD card still does not appear in the App Manager.

So is there any way I can send apps to SD card??

Phone LG-E400, Android version 2.3.6

First, you can specify your phone and carrier in your user data so you don't have to post it each time.

Second, this might be a question where it's better to ask in the forum for your particular forum, but on the Samsung S4 the answer is Settings/More/Application Manager and then slide the screen one to the left to (SD Card) and select the apps you want to move. Not all manufacturers support moving to SD on later versions of Android.

Man I wrote my phone....

Anyway I got the solution myself, just root and install Link2SD.

But still the apps take up the system memory which is just 157 MB, even if I send them to SD card, they will all take up up to 10 MB of system memory so it will get full fast, and all apps download to system memory so if there is less than the required amount (for example 40MB) then I cant even download any apps because there is not enough storage in the system memory.....

I did this entire thing here How To Increase Memory On LG L3 E400 Using Link2SD - Root Lord

it did not change anything. How the hell did such a massive flaw in the phone go unnoticed? This phone is basically useless you cant download more than a few apps in here...

A lot of early Android phones had too little internal storage.

The native (in Android 2.3) move to sd does only move part of the app: the apk and any library component, but not e.g. the dalvik cache. You need to root the phone , partitioned the sd card (using a decent partitioning tool, not Minitool Partition Wizard) and use either a ROM which supports it or an app like Link2SD, to do more than that.

If Link2SD isn't working, what is your setup?

Look at the link in my previous post, I did what is written there, but that didnt change anything still a part of the app remains on system memory.

Perhaps it is the download of the app rather than the install of the app? Such as in computer you need to download the installation file, so I wonder what happens to the installation file in the phone?

Note : This Guide is for the LG Optimus V.

This is for comparison sake only. "ymmv" :)

This guide will give you a better understanding of how to setup links2sd and what size your partitions need to be.
It also uses Titanium Backup.

The LG Optimus V has only 178mb of internal space, using this guide andyopie150 ( author of guide) was able to download over 100 apps, with 110 mb of internal space still available. ;-)

Im just gonna throw this ******* phone away, applications keep crashing, cant connect to wifi, SD card is useless......

Sorry to read that. So, you are rooted and running on Clockwork Mod?
Have you tried asking that Vishnu for help?

I did the root and clockwork mod.... that still didnt send apps to SD card, a part always remained in system memory and there was only like 100 MB of that free so it got full fast, I did already total format and factory reset and unrooted and everything... now it wont even connect to wifi idk why. Also apps crashed "stopped unexpectedly".... oh well... how stupid is this that you cant send apps to SD card?
