Help How to set Memory card as primary storage media? / Internal memory full error (Optimus One P500)

Hi ,
I Bought Optimus P500 last week and it seems all the applications I am downloading from Market are getting installed in the internal memory. - 1) How to resolve this? the 2GB card has about 1.6 GB free and Internal memory is just 17 MB free,
2) Whenever I try to compose a new SMS, I get an error message saying "Low on space, Phone storage is full!! Delete some files to free space." I just had 15 SMS in my phone and have deleted about 5 of them and I still cannot send / receive SMS.
More over the internal memory still shows 17 MB as free and a single SMS should not take more than a few KB's.

Has any one face similar issues and or can suggest some thing to resolve this?

Cheers,
Ankur

You can go to application settings and then choose "Move to SD Card" on each app.
Unfortunately a lot (if not all or most) apps in the market will have the option grayed out, because they have to be enabled this feature by the developer.
So you can follow a procedure that requires the Android SDK and a debug connection to your phone.
I guess, in order to have the drivers working and all, you have to read some tutorials on how to root the Optimus One.
Then after your PC recognizes your phone, you can follow guides like this one or this one in order to get most apps to work within the SD Card.

I haven't done anything of this (except rooting a couple Samsung phones) but in reality is a pretty easy straightforward procedure.

I found the same problem with low space and unable to text/sms....Do what the above post suggest and move apps to SD via "Menu, Settings, Applications"....Also it helps to clear the cache quite often i have found....Go to the market and get a app called "aCCleaner" that will clear all your cache in one go so you don`t have to mess about doing each app one by one....You will get a lot of phone memory back....It works fine for me now....Hope this helps....

Please inform me how to free up Internal memory Storage and use the mobile applications successfully..... please revert back me as soon as possible.... please reply me as soon as possible. Thank you

in case of Internal memory being full, start moving apps & personal files to SDCard. You can move your apps from "Manage Applications" option in your system settings.

I have the same problem, I really love the phone but the internal memory is giving me the s***s. I have put in an 8GB SD card and it says 6.9free, every app that is not grayed out where it says "move to sd card" has been moved to the card, all sms threads have been deleted, deleting downloaded apps is not doing anything for me.
I will try the cache cleaner app as mentioned and try that 1st, but the next step will be that more involved solution offered previously.

Unless anyone else has any suggestions??.......

Just a quick follow up, installed the cache cleaner.........message reads no caches to empty, all empty it would seem.

So, any tips where to now in plain language? Thanks

Thanks, thats what I want to do, so I have updated from Froyo to Gingerbread so I can take advantage of this gingerbreak app that should do the rooting for me.
But as I am a novice, how do I actually get gingerbreak on my phone?

As in, how do I actually do it as I have never done anything like this before.

Cheers

u say u have upgraded to GB, so know this that u cannot root using gingerbreak now.. that was only for Froyo.. (as far as i've read around in XDA)
u can try nevertheless.
If it doesnt work, You need to get Superoneclick or some other soft (search XDA) to root now.

And as for low internal space.
Root phone > Install Titanium Backup from MArket.
Open app > Menu > Batch > Move user apps to SD..

It will move all apps at once (even the grayed one's that refuse to be moved).
But remember that if u move everything on SD, widgets of those apps wont work. if u want their widgets to work u need that app on phone memory..
hope that helps.. :)
