Help How to set the UI completely to Chinese?

Hi all,

I purchased a Wildfire S for my wife, who happens to be Chinese. I've downloaded MoreLocale 2 and Google Pinyin, and the pinyin thing is working for SMS. Some programs (such as Market) have a Chinese UI and their settings are Chinese too. However, the "main UI" remains English.

I guess it is the HTC Sense part. Is there any way to set everything to Chinese without rooting? I'm a little afraid of rooting a brand new phone that is not mine...

Thanks for any suggestion,

Thierry

Welcome to AF! :)

It can depend on whether or not your handset is branded by your carrier. The standard HTC software that all of the carrier versions are based on should give you the option of changing the language of the entire UI, but carriers may remove certain languages based on what they believe to be appropriate.

Do you know if you're carrier branded? Do you see a network provider logo when you switch the handset on, or does it have a logo on the back of it?

If you head to Settings -> Language and Keyboard, that should change the language of the entire phone. I've Orange Branded and I only have French & English, but if I select French, the entire phone turns French.
