Help How to spot a battery drainer app?

I've heard people saying that RAM isnt the thing to look for when you're trying to find which apps are draining your battery. I guess that makes sense.

But then how are we going to spot the apps that drain battery? Please don't tell me to look at the battery stats because that thing doesn't work properly. For instance if I stream music through Spotify when the app is running in the background, it will calculate it as stand-by draining time. It only sees the app as a battery drainer when you're inside the app.

And I know that when I talk about battery draining, I mean the apps that are running in the background and keeping the phone awake for no reason.

So if RAM is not the thing to look for and battery stats doesn't work properly, where should I look? I can try using the RAM section to spot the most frequently awake apps, like you know it says "100% always running", in order to spot the apps but that doesn't tell me how much that app effects my battery draining.

Do you have a better suggestion for this? Thank you in advance.

GSam Battery Monitor is worth a go - better battery usage stats than the power menu. Wakelock Detector could be relevant too, depending on the nature of the problem.
