Root How to stop Data throttling???

Ok i have been searching and searching and trying and trying to no avail. I was wondering does anyone have a true solution to battle this data throttling thing? I hear alot of people say "it cannot be stopped because its being done from the SERVER side" which makes since but i believe there MUST be a way to combat it. I dont think its fair that i pay for unlimited service every month and my speeds are always data throttled( and always have been) whether i use alot of data, a little bit of data, or an average amount of data. Not to mention metro claims to give us 4g(LTE) technology and most of us never see TRUE 4g. True 4g *(estimated) is supposed to be 10 megabytes/sec or something like that...and i have NEVER seen my speeds reach that. Sure downloading on google play is kinda quick, but thats just Google play....who really cares about that cause those are usually small files that wont take too long to complain about anyway. Speeds fluctuate drastically and constantly....smh...its not right that they do that when they advertise it as unlimited...i hope one day, if possible, we can all figure this out together

tf go complain to them aha you cant stop data throttling tho its on the servers side not your phone if there was a way we would of all done it by now haha

Did you try using the data cap in the phone? Under settings... go to data usage the set your cap for an outrageous number like 999 GB. that's what I did and now no throttle speed

As far as I know and from personal experience there is no such thing as "true" unlimited data, even on home internet connections. The way that they market the "unlimited" internet is giving you a set amount of the speed you paid for before throttling you instead of cutting the internet off all together. MetroPCS gives you, from what I've read, about 2 gb of unlimited internet before throttling you. Since this is server-based there is no way to fix it, the way you may be thinking of to get around things like this is if things were client based and can be changed before sending the information to the server.

They give you 2gb depending on your plan. the 45 a month is 2gb and the next plan up is 5gb.

very very well said Totg.... you may be right..... OK OK.... if that's not possible then is it a way to hide or manipulate the amount of usage from being detected???

I mean.. I have been playing with a few things here and there like tweaking settings with rom toolbox and sometimes.. OTHER apps... and I have SOME success for a little bit... but of course it always comes back... and also sometimes I browse the root files and notice little things that "seem" in nature to be related to throttling.. but I'm always too nervous to try to manipulate most of these things ... thinking I may PERMANENTLY brick my phone.(Even though I have MANY recovery images saved.

What does one do on his mobile phone that consumes more than 2 gigabytes of data on a monthly basis...? I am just curious.

I always use Wi-Fi, whenever available, as it will always be faster and more reliable than mobile data.

Since you are paying for their premium service, calling and asking nicely why your speeds are going slower than what they promised to deliver could be an option, although I too doubt that will work.

As far as items being on the phone that manipulates whether you get throttled or not, I am not too certain, perhaps files related to the reading under Data Usage, could help give some insight, although besides being incredibly risky, you might find it might be worth obtaining another device, to experiment on. Since the N9120 was quick to retire from the Metro Store, this might not be too difficult on a budget.

Alternatively, for $60, I can not think of another carrier that might deliver, like Metro does at that price range. The slang 'You get what you pay for' comes into mind...

It depends though whether BM is any good where each person is. Here it's awful. Takes forever to download a large file and streaming movies is out of the question. Anything online is painful. I'll be moving my primary line to an ATT prepaid as soon as I can afford the etf and a phone I want.
