How to stop email addresses in contacts

I've just deleted loads of email addresses, actually every single email I have sent since 2003 has the persons email address in my phones contacts. How do I stop the email addresses from displaying in my contacts? Do I just have to keep deleting every time?

contacts>menu>more>display options
tick only contacts with phone numbers

In order to have contacts with only email addresses that have been manually entered, but not to have the address of every person you have ever sent an email to in the address book you need to vary hawker's answer slightly.

Contacts>menu>More>Display options
Under "Select contacts to display" expand "Google" and untick "All other contacts".
